Learning for 22.05.20

Happy Friyay! Please remember to send your responses back to Mrs Maiden if your children are eligible to come back to school in June. Hope you all have a lovely weekend and half term. Look after yourselves and take a well-deserved break!!

Maths

Arithmetic Friday! We’re gonna put a pause on time to have another practice at all the arithmetic skills we’ve learned so far.

Have a go at these Y3-Arithmetic Questions, they’re all stuff that we cover in our early bird so they should be a breeze!

Then when you’ve done that I’d like you to practice our number bonds to 10 and number bonds to 20, and addition within 10 and 20 because even though we can do them, we can make it even quicker.

Hit the Button is perfect for this if you have access to a computer.

Any of these games in the number bond section are perfect!

If you don’t have a computer but you do have someone to play against, you could play our rock paper scissors game (one hand for within 10, 2 hands for within 20)

Or if you don’t have anyone to play against you could get a dice or a pack of cards and turn them over and see how quickly you can find the number bond to 10 or twenty. Then turn two over and see how quickly you can add them.

English

No more apostrophes! Hallelujah. Really hope you’ve got the hang of them now.

Today we’re going to do almost a free write but the story already given to you…

I want you to watch this clip of a wordless story and then write the story in your own words! Use as much exciting vocabulary as you can; he’s not sad- he’s devastated or heartbroken, he’s not scared- he’s petrified or anxious etc.

There are also plenty of opportunities to use apostrophes here funnily enough…

Other activities to try throughout the day

It’s the last day of Mental Health Awareness Week but that doesn’t mean we have to stop being kind to each other! These activities will still be relevant tomorrow, next week, next month, next year….

Mental Health Awareness Week Activities-
Today I’d like to remind you of the YouTube Channel called Cosmic Kids. We have done some of their yoga sessions before and really enjoyed them but we also love their mindfulness sessions to just chill out when we’ve been a bit excited or upset or just feeling too much all round! This one links nicely to our English!

So get yourselves on it and start tagging!

  1. Thanks so much Cecily for contributing to our thoughts on how to make our communities and school community a kinder place!
