Life is full of ‘What If’s. Today we’re going to focus on some of those What If questions.

Like what if everybody in the world could hear what you were thinking?
What if you could talk to your pets?
What if you only had one finger and thumb?
What if you could only sleep for 15 minutes at a time?
What if Mr Leverett isn’t as good of a dancer as Miss Bankhead?

I want you to come up with a list of as many what if questions as you can today- make them as wacky or as serious as you like!
Then select a few of those questions to answer yourself or send them to a friend to answer so you can answer theirs; and as always… send them to me so I can see too.

I have become a little bit obsessed with Six Word Stories so we’re going to try it for ourselves today.

This trend started based on the story that Ernest Hemingway (a very famous author) was challenged once to write a story in only six words. He responded with

This is so fantastic because it can spark your imagination in so many different directions about the story. Who wrote it; was it the mother or father of the baby? Why were they never worn- did the baby die? Did it get taken away from their parents? Did they just go barefoot all the time? Maybe they couldn’t walk so didn’t need shoes? Were the shoes stolen? If so, why?
There are just so many ways to take it!

Larry Smith has created a project from this idea of 6 Word Stories and it has become global! Here are some of my favourite examples from students

For your activity today I would like you to try and create some 6 word stories of your own. It could be about yourself, school, lockdown, your week so far….
You could even try and write a six word story for one of the books you’ve read (or that we’ve read in school).

I’ve even had a go myself!

Never stay still for too long

Sometimes a teacher, always a student

In one ear, out the other

Moving forwards is the only option

Far from home but never lonely

Dancing can fix almost any problem

Can you guess which of the stories we read this year are summed up in these six words?

Circus life not what it seemed

New life revived a dreary city

It’s not so scary after all!

I would really love to see some of your 6 word stories, feel free to decorate and send me pictures or just send me a few of your best ones!
