You have been working on your presentations all week. So today’s job is to finish them off and send them in to me.

Remember the fact sheet could be done on the computer (for instance using Word or Power Point) or it could be done on paper the choice is yours.

Your aim was to provide as much information about this person and what they have accomplished (done) as possible and also to include pictures (some of these could be your drawings some could be ‘cut and pasted’ from the internet).

Have a great weekend,

Mr Leverett

Work for Thursday 5th of November

Hi all,

Hope your well.

Below is the work for today any queries please do not hesitate to get in touch at: c.leverett@meadowsideacademy.org

Please male sure that you either bring in all of your work when you return to school or alternatively email it in to me each day.

Early Bird: Complete the questions below

Maths: Today we are going to solve multiplication word problems

Spellings: Please complete the word search below

English: Today we are going to edit and improve the draft of our character description.

Editing – This means reading through our working and correcting any errors. These could be: making sure it makes sense, punctuation, capitals and full stops, use of speech marks, use of paragraphs, spelling or anything else which corrects the existing work.

Improve – Then we look how we could improve this piece of work: use of better words (vocabulary); further punctuation or more advance punctuation; improvement in our sentence starters (fronted adverbials), adding similes. Anything we can add to the original to make our writing better.

My top tip is to do this editing in a different colour pen (say black) over the top of your draft work – it will look messy but do not worry, tomorrow we will write it up neatly.

Reading:

Read this text and answer the following questions

Topic:

Our new topic this term is ‘Little People Big Dreams’. Yesterday you made a list a list of people who had ‘changed lives’. for the remainder of the week (Wed-Fri) you are going to select one of those people and you are going to create a fact sheet about them. • Try to use the ‘show not tell’ in your writing. Describe rather than telling you audience . Tell = he was intelligent. Show = his eyes were bright and took in every detail in the room, in one quick glance he new who was there and what they wanted from him.
  • Use a variety of punctuation
  • Use direct speech accurately
  • Use paragraphs accurately
  • Use ambitious vocabulary (not big – huge or colossal).
  • Use fronted adverbials accurately (when, where or how – ‘At precisely 2 o’clock, Charlie enter the factory’.

Please complete this weeks look, cover, write, check sheet

English:

Between Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday you are going to write a description of a character description of a character from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (as we have done in class with Mr Wonka).
